Today, on April 12, in Astana, under the chairmanship of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the first meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology was held.

In his speech, the Head of State noted that at all times science was considered the main key to development. The President stated that science and technology are rapidly developing. But, despite all efforts, domestic science is not yet the engine of the country's socio-economic progress. The head of state believes that the Government will have to implement a set of measures to form an open model of science in Kazakhstan. He considers it necessary to start implementing a comprehensive plan to open strong scientific centers and institutes of the natural sciences, engineering and technology, social and humanitarian profiles.

Along with this, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the National Academy of Sciences plays a huge role in the new model for the development of science. Recently, this institution received the status under the President.

Activities dedicated to the day of science were continued within the walls of Astana IT University, where a meeting of the Council of Young Scientists was held as part of the first meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The meeting began with a welcoming speech by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek. The meeting highlighted the role of young scientists in shaping the future of the Kazakh sector of science, technology and innovation. Key priorities in the field of science were identified, including the development of a strong innovation ecosystem, as well as new opportunities for young researchers and entrepreneurs. The participants of the meeting spoke about the activities of the SMU, the implementation of sustainable development goals in the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as about the tools for technology commercialization..

On the same day, within the walls of this university, lectures were held by scientists from leading universities in the world as part of the first meeting of the National Council for Science and Technology under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the week of science.
The purpose of the lecture by foreign members of the national council is to bring to the audience valuable ideas and points of view on scientific and technological topics, as well as to involve young people to create a broader scientific community in Kazakhstan.

The participants of the event were the council of young scientists, vice-rector for science of universities, scientists from ENU, NCB, NU.
During the event, scientists touched upon important topics from the field of advanced scientific knowledge, such as experimental physics, genetic engineering and DNA, nanotechnology and human health.
