The Graduate School of Education of Nazarbayev University hosted the second module of the program "Academic Leadership Institute" on the topic "Leadership, management and strategy".

Among the students were the rector of ArkPI Yerzhan Amirbekuly and the dean of the Faculty of Natural Science and Informatization of the Institute Alibek Yeskermesuly.
In continuation of the topics covered in the first module at the end of April, the sessions of the second module were aimed at developing the leadership qualities of rectors, vice-rectors, deans and directors of departments of Kazakhstani universities, as well as mastering the tools for navigating in the modern dynamic landscape of higher education.
The second module was filled with useful sessions and discussions about the key aspects of effective leadership in higher education. Issues related to academic leadership, strategic planning and the characteristics of a modern entrepreneurial university were raised.

The sessions were moderated by international education experts David Locke and John Davis, together with Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education Kuanysh Yergaliyev, Director of the Department of Strategic Planning and Coordination Adlet Toybaev and Dean of the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education Aida Sagintayeva.
Participants delved into important leadership issues such as integrity, inspiration, communication skills, vision, coping skills, intuition and empathy. Particular attention was paid to the management of universities and the development of strategies for their development, taking into account the orientation towards social values and the balance between public accountability, responsibility and institutional freedom.

International experts presented various aspects of governance, including the identification of strengths and weaknesses, the commercial use of advantages, market analysis and other measures that contribute to the development of entrepreneurial universities.
