Under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a situational center has been created to provide students with places in hostels. This was announced today by Minister Sayasat Nurbek during a meeting of an expanded board with the participation of rectors of higher educational institutions.

The head of the department, Sayasat Nurbek, paid special attention to the need to provide dormitories for the maximum number of students.
“Obviously, it is impossible to provide all students with dormitories. This problem is still of a systemic nature, but the Ministry is working in this direction. In particular, our department has created a situational center, which, together with universities, will help students get places in dormitories,” the minister said.
Sayasat Nurbek also called on public figures and caring citizens to join the situation center to help needy students.
To promptly respond to students' problems with housing, the Situation Center launched a call center at +77002551443, which will work 24/7.
“In order to systematically solve the problems of shortage of places, this year we opened project offices for the construction of dormitories in Almaty and Astana, since 70% of the shortage of places falls on these cities. I also previously instructed to complete the repair work in universities before August 15. Before the start of the academic year, the first heads of universities need to pay special attention to the compliance of dormitories with the requirements of sanitary and technical standards,” Sayasat Nurbek said.
According to forecasts of universities in the new academic year, the number of students in need of a hostel will be 134 thousand people. Due to the large concentration of universities in Almaty, every year a large influx of students from different regions falls on the southern capital. Students who do not have enough places in dormitories will be offered places in hostels and hotels until the issue of shortage of places is resolved.
It is worth noting that from September 1, 2023, a new edition of the Law “On Education” comes into force, providing for the provision of all students of educational organizations with places in hostels.
