Teach for Qazaqstan: make your dream come true - become a teacher!

Today, 4th year students and teachers of Altunsarin Institute met with representatives of Teach for Qazaqstan. This is the official partner of the global educational network Teach for All, which is successfully implemented in 62 countries around the world.

The peculiarity of the program is that teacher candidates can be graduates of non-teaching universities and specialists with work experience from various fields. From these, TFQ selects program participants for pedagogical retraining, then employs them as subject teachers for two years in the region.
“Learning from people not only with pedagogical education, but also communication with professionals, with graduates of non-core universities and with experienced specialists from non-teaching fields will broaden the horizons of students and help them realize great opportunities,” said Teach for Qazaqstan director Gulnara Salmen.
According to the project organizers, many socio-economic factors, such as remoteness of regions, low staffing of schools, insufficient funding, weak infrastructure, etc., influence the educational gap, the shortage of teachers, and the unlocking of children’s potential.
During the meeting, the rector of the institute, Yerzhan Amirbekuly, expressed hope that the strongest, most worthy graduates of the Altynsarin institute will be among the project participants. “I think this meeting is an important step in your life. There are not many such opportunities. This project will strengthen your starting position; with this program you will be 10 steps ahead. And 2 years after completing the program, you will be able to go to work in any school in the country. Secondly, the financial side is a very good motivation,” the rector noted, addressing the students.
In turn, future teachers showed high interest in this program. They took an active part in the discussion, asked questions to the speakers, and expressed their own opinions. The most active ones received memorable gifts from the foundation.

It is worth noting that Teach for Qazaqstan is announcing the recruitment of new participants for the project. Submission of applications for the second stream of the project has already begun and will last until January 5, 2024. Finalists of the program enter into a contract with the Foundation’s partner school, and for two years they will receive methodological and educational support in online and offline formats from TFQ. Participants will be provided with financial support in the form of a monthly stipend in the amount of 300,000 tenge in addition to their salary. In addition to working as a teacher, participants will engage in social activities, launch cultural and educational projects in the region, Teach for Qazaqstan will act as a consultant in this case and help in attracting partners and investors.
