On April 14, 2023, the Altynsarin Institute hosted the event “Youth and Religion: Mechanisms for Engagement and Retention in a Cult” with the participation of members of the regional information and explanatory group for the prevention of religious extremism in the city of Arkalyk.

A lecture on this topic was delivered to the students of the institute by a representative of law enforcement agencies - the head of the Training Center for employees of the penitentiary system of the Kostanay Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after Sh. Kabylbaev, police lieutenant colonel Tuiganov Myrzabek Sardarbekovich.

The speaker told the students about religious movements and the problems of young people who fall into destructive organizations. The issues of prevention of religious extremism, ways of struggle and responsibility were also disclosed.
The meeting was attended by both freshmen, for whom this topic was heard for the first time, and students of the second and third courses.
The main task of holding this event among students of higher educational institutions is to increase religious literacy and warn young people from the influence of destructive ideologies alien to the Kazakh mentality and to skillfully resist them.

It should be noted that the event was organized as part of the implementation of the project of the Public Foundation "Association of Psychologists of the Kostanay Region" by order of the State Institution "Department of Internal Policy of the Akimat of the City of Arkalyk". Within the framework of this project, a series of events is planned aimed at increasing the information literacy of the population on the activities of modern religious movements.
