Take precautions against measles
Basic recommendations for the population in case of measles:
1) Parents check the vaccination status of their child against measles, if there is no vaccination, get a preventive vaccination against measles;
2) parents of children who have not been vaccinated against measles for various reasons should limit participation in various cultural events and visits to playgrounds in shopping and entertainment centers;
3) when the first symptoms of the disease appear with catarrhal symptoms (fever, headache, weakness) and rash, you must consult a doctor, undergo a measles examination and follow all his recommendations.
Remember that disease is always easier to prevent than to treat!
It should be noted that measles is an acute infectious disease of a viral nature, characterized by fever, catarrhal symptoms such as cough, runny nose, sore throat and rashes.
Measles symptoms:
The first signs: general malaise, fever, headaches, runny nose, sore throat, photophobia, red eyes, tearing (conjunctivitis), cough;
Main signs: rash all over the body, spreading from the head, then down to the lower body and legs; white (like an accumulation of semolina) and red spots in the oropharynx.
Measles is dangerous due to complications such as pneumonia (inflammation of the lungs), bronchitis, encephalitis (inflammation of the membranes of the brain), which, in cases of late seeking medical care and the presence of severe concomitant diseases, can lead to death.
There is no effective and specific treatment for measles.
The only effective protection against measles is vaccination. In Kazakhstan, measles vaccination is provided free of charge, twice: the first at the age of 1 year and the second at the age of 6 years. Vaccination uses a safe and effective measles vaccine in combination with a rubella and mumps component (MMR).
