In January 2024, as part of the project “Modernization of Secondary Education,” the Committee of Higher and Postgraduate Education conducted training for teachers of higher educational institutions on scaling the developed educational programs.

From January 8 to January 19, 2024, teachers of the Arkalyk Pedagogical Institute named after I. Altynsarin completed advanced training courses organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the World Bank as part of the project “Increasing the Capacity of Teacher Education.”
The purpose of the training is to deepen the understanding of professional competencies through the development of educational programs (syllabus) and expand the areas of pedagogical competence in the context of modernization of education.
The training program for teaching staff of higher educational institutions included the training of 1,800 people from 42 higher educational institutions implementing teacher education programs.
The program included 72 training hours, including:
● online seminar on orientation week (2 hours),
● synchronous online training (29.5 hours),
● offline training (30 hours),
● individual and group assignments (6.5 hours),
as well as self-study materials (4 hours).
The training consisted of intensive offline weeks, online sessions, as well as post-course support in the form of the provision of necessary materials, thematic webinars and online mentoring.

Professional training was carried out in the areas of natural science and mathematics, humanities and special education.
On-the-job assessment was based on a learning process supported by timely feedback and continuous development.
During the training weeks, participants used a variety of active methods to collaboratively construct knowledge and develop a shared understanding of pedagogical principles and approaches. Online sessions were conducted using Zoom.
Trainers used active and interactive learning methods such as LearningCafé and Gallerywalk to engage participants in the learning process in group sessions, and there was also extensive use of digital tools such as Mentimeter.com, AnswerGarden or Flinga.
It is worth noting that 63 teachers completed a comprehensive pedagogical training course at the Altynsarin Institute and mastered the use of digital technologies and active learning methods, the development of a teaching evaluation system and the creation of evaluation criteria.
