Altynsarin Institute student among Coursera's best students
On October 17-18, 2024, in Astana, as part of the conference "Connected 2024: Reimagining The Future", a session "Expanding Kazakhstani Education with Generative AI: Shaping the Future of Learning" was held.
The session was devoted to discussing new opportunities in the field of education that artificial intelligence opens up, including training new generation talents and using generative AI to accelerate the learning process.
The session was attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, Managing Director of Coursera for Europe, the Middle East and Africa Nicolas Foucault, as well as Professor of Engineering at the University of Auckland, Barbara Oakley. It should be noted that her course "Learning How to Learn" is one of the most popular massive online courses on the Coursera platform.
During the event, Minister Sayasat Nurbek and Managing Director of the platform Nicolas Foucault awarded the best students studying on the Coursera platform, and teachers who developed online courses, as well as universities that provide maximum support to students.
Among those awarded was a 3rd-year student of the English Language program at Altynsarin Institute, Rustam Babazhanov. Despite the fact that Rustam is undergoing academic mobility training in Indonesia at Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau in the fall semester, his award has been received and will be presented upon his return to his homeland.
It is worth noting that in 2023, Altunsarin Institute students were already among those who successfully completed training on the Coursera platform. A student of the Biology-Geography program, Dana Seitkarimova, received a certificate from the hands of Coursera CEO Jeff Majoncald.
Let us recall that in September 2022, in order to develop cooperation and expand access of Kazakhstani citizens to courses of leading foreign professors, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Coursera.
Congratulations to Rustam and wish him further success!
