Gifted Students Support Program
Explanatory note
The main task of the teacher - a discovery and development characteristics of students cognitive abilities: sensation, perception, memory, ideas, imagination, thinking, attention.
In the construction techniques of the students in learning computer science at the university must be based on the idea of a differentiated and developmental education.
For the construction techniques are necessary:
1. Diagnosis of gifted students in the system of general diagnosis (range of activities: the different types of testing, introspection, observation of teachers).
2. Software for gifted students in the overall software system (differentiation).
3. Gifted Students Teaching methods (problem, search, research, and so on. d.).
4. The ability to modify the program to conduct training in accordance with the results of the diagnostic study, parental counseling.
hen working with gifted students is proposed that the questions included in the content of mathematical education in the past decade: logic, probability theory, combinatorics, etc...
Work may be performed in a variety of shapes and forms. Conditionally can distinguish three main types of work.
1. Individual work - work with the student to guide the extracurricular reading in math, preparing reports, abstracts, mathematical works, preparing some students for Olympiads, conferences, etc...
2. Group work - systematic work carried out with sufficient permanent staff of students.
3. Mass work - episodic work carried out with a large team of students. To apply this type of evening, the conference week Informatics Olympiad and so on. N.
In practice, these types of work are closely linked with each other.
Today the most common forms of work with gifted students are clubs, competitions and so on. D. There are special courses and elective courses as a variety of electives.
One of the forms of employment are:
- competition for the best solution of the problem on the computer with the use of mathematics;
- competition for the best solution to the problem by means of the application of mathematical physics, computer science, technical drawing;
- competition for the best solution to a non-standard (combined) tasks related subjects school course, such as physics - computer science, mathematics -informatika. The core group will have features and other forms of work.
Work with gifted students
At the heart of work with gifted students is the principle of voluntariness. It can be organized as a for showing some signs of giftedness, and for everyone.
One of the first lessons should tell students about what they will do, what's new and interesting things they find out what classes benefit as they will be held to reveal who wish to engage in. And must specify the basic requirements, which should be subject to further students involved.
There are two approaches to the organization of work with young people, carried about science.
The first approach is applied in the case where the group is numerous and divided into sections. They can be as follows:
- Teaching and research (students do research, prepare yourself for writing essays);
- the design (production of visual aids, models, instruments, informatics cabinet, electronic presentations and projects);
- Decoration (preparation and publication of mathematical papers, different design in preparation for the Olympics, parties and other activities);
- lovers of solving problems (problem solving, competitions, contests and so on. n.).
The second approach is applicable to a small number of students. In this case, it is impossible to organize the section, and the interests of all students varied. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct classes in various forms.
The main forms of employment in this approach.
I. Combined thematic activity.
An exemplary structure of this class may be the following:
1. Presentation of the teacher in the chosen subject for 10 - 20 minutes
2. The main part - the independent decision of problems on a particular topic group members, and among these tasks must be of high complexity tasks. The number of goals: 3-5 (depending on the topic and duration of sessions). After the decision of the first tasks of all or the majority of students is one of the students makes its analysis for all members of the group. The teacher in the course of solving problems draw conclusions, make generalizations.
3. Solution entertaining nature of the tasks, objectives, Thinking, analysis of operators and programming commands, tricks. Conducting intelligent games and entertainment.
4. Answers to questions from students, homework.
At the same time some of the most difficult problems, proposed solutions for self and home. Sometimes proreshivaet himself a teacher. Speech teacher, and the main part of the homework in the thematic session should occupy 70-80% of the time.
II. Competition to solve problems Programming, competitions and games.Such a class is best done systematically, 4-6 thematic sessions, it will be the result of a kind of work for 1-2 months.
In this form of organization of all sessions is devoted to a competition, contest.
As an example, to hold such events as:
- Non-standard Olympic Games (fight, hockey, etc.),
- Carousel
- Oral Competition, etc..
III. Hearing abstracts, protection of electronic projects and presentations.
IV. Analysis of tasks of international and national competitions; error analysis.
V. Solution of problems on various topics (often in preparation for competitions, to repeat).
There may be other shapes, less widely spread in practice, for example:
- Tutorial given home. It so happened that the houses the students had trouble all or almost all. In this case, all the activity is devoted to analysis of domestic and solving similar problems.
- Reports, talks on informormatsionnym technologies (often in computer science week).
- The student's message about the result that it has received about the problem that he himself came up and decided.
- View movies, movies on computer.
There may be other forms of organization of work with gifted students.
Preparing for the lesson
1. To prepare for the teacher it is necessary to conduct the following activities.
1. To study all the issues planned for this activity.
2. Solve all the selected task again.
3. Determine that the selected materials the most interesting and most difficult.
4. Locate the problem to solve in class in difficulty (or difficulties). At the same time problems with large calculations to engage not to take. Emphasis is placed on an interesting idea challenges.
2. Statement of the problem is best printed on separate pieces of paper for each student. Sometimes it can be offered to students to reformulate the text of tasks, think of themselves.
3. In case of difficulty in studying in solving the problem, it is necessary to provide for a simple task (preparatory).
4. To implement the differential treatment applied "double" problem (ie. E. The task with the same idea, but different levels of difficulty).
5.Apply and tasks with errors; problems containing materials today.
6.Use pre-task for future studies (both on the class and at home).
7. Have always left an interesting entertaining material.
For homework, the first time to offer no more than 2-3 tasks. If students will actively solve them, the number of tasks can be increased, otherwise - leave 2-3 and wherein the set does not always solve, and some of the challenges - offering optional.
Basic guidelines for the preparation of a report by students
Example topics of presentations for students of 1-2 courses:
Information and communication technologies.
Programming languages
The programming language C ++.
Databases and Information Systems.
1. Only after this performance was well-prepared and interesting to students, it can be charged more serious task: to prepare a message or report.
2. Give the job a month before you need to make a report.
Recommend to the student literature; provide guidance on the plan and the key moments performances. (Sometimes before the preparation of the report suggest the problem relating to the report and literature itself to a week.)
3.Determine the time for speeches. The student will write a report, will hear your message, recorded on tape.
4.Two weeks later, to check what has been done to help.
5.During the week before the show to see the abstract, to listen to the report, check the visibility.
6.After the report, the teacher must be mentioned its advantages and disadvantages
Basic requirements to the report:
• text of the report to the student better express in their own words;
• All new terms need to be clarified;
• at the beginning of the report explain the importance of the topic, what it might be interesting to present;
• identify basic concepts, the basic idea of the report;
• The duration of the report: 15-20 minutes;
• Apply visibility.
• To ensure that all students are aware of the group what they do guys, their work should be covered in mathematical high school newspaper or other publication in which it is desirable to put the work plan objectives for these activities. To achieve the goals set by the teacher to gifted students, it is necessary to:
• students in the classroom were accurate records;
• log in employment was recorded the material in question and achievements of students;
• material considered in the classroom, were the basis of the various competitions;
• Systematically repeat the material, including the review and in the previous year;
• the lessons of the teacher in the study program material every encouragement to the knowledge, skills and ideas that gifted students received extra lessons.
Concluding session should start with the teacher talks about how the students worked during the school year (which looked at what they have learned, what skills are acquired that studied new). Complete annual work, as already noted, the Olympics (and can be custom) on the tasks addressed during the school year, or offset. After that say about the prospects of working with gifted learners in the coming year, to offer books to read during the summer
