Since the beginning of October, the Silver University has been functioning at the Arkalyk Pedagogical Institute named after I. Altynsarin as an information form of providing social and pedagogical services to elderly residents of the city of Arkalyk.

Today, about 20 students of pre-retirement and retirement age are studying at the “Silver University” Altynsarin Institute. As part of this project, the institute offers older people a portfolio of training programs, which include courses on studying modern IT technologies, foreign languages, improving legal and financial literacy, psychology and art, healthy lifestyle, and playing the dombra. Classes are taught by experienced, qualified university teachers. Upon completion of the full 72-hour course, all students will receive certificates.
Silver University students are confident that it is never too late to learn and that they will certainly apply all the knowledge acquired here in everyday life.

According to the teacher of the course on the basics of IT technologies “Computer Literacy” Baizakova S.S., continuous education and the development of digital technologies are today the basis for a successful and happy life. “Pensioners remain the least computerized category of the population. After all, they often live separately from children and young people and there is simply no one to teach them all the computer intricacies. This is precisely why computer literacy courses were created. This is training in all the necessary computer skills. Teaching is done in understandable language,” notes the teacher.

It is worth noting that the activities of “Silver Universities” help pensioners and older people find new meaning in life, express themselves and realize themselves, prolong their life activity and expand their social circle. Undoubtedly, the main goal of “Silver Universities” is the opportunity for older people to acquire new knowledge and skills, gain self-confidence and actively participate in the public life of the city and region.
